About this Project
The LA METRO Regional Connector Transit Project includes a rail line running from Azusa to Long Beach and from East Los Angeles to Santa Monica, through downtown LA. Kroner Environmental oversaw Environmental Management and Consulting for this project.
We monitored and engineered all noise control for this project. Which included continuous monitoring stations and instrument installments throughout alignment, spot-check monitoring, and noise abatement. We continually gathered all complaints from nearby sensitive receptors such as Walt Disney Concert Hall, LAPL Central Library, The California Club, The Broad, Colburn School, LA Times, all nearby schools, other sensitive historic buildings, all nearby medical facilities, commercial buildings, and other quiet and/or sensitive areas and provided viable solutions for all constituents.
We secured permitting facilities (batch plants) to provide air services. Our custom-designed air treatment systems were used to control odors from naturally occurring gasses at the site.
In terms of hazardous materials management and soil services, through our investigations, we encountered hazardous substances and contaminants during construction from a previous industrial project. These included substances such as asbestos, lead containing materials, and naturally occurring oil contaminated soils. We characterized the most sustainable options for disposal and contaminated soil removal before construction while following all needed compliance. We carried out LA Metro’s Green Construction Policy (GCP) mitigation monitoring and reporting programs.
We performed remediation of industrial properties as well. During our investigation, we discovered six underground storage tanks (USTs). We specified and designed water treatment systems for the industrial waste discharge.
We continue to perform a variety of environmental tasks for this project including: permitting, studies, assessments, site investigations and remediation, compliance, monitoring and reporting, and submittals on any and all environmental requirements.
