About this Project
The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project is a major transportation improvement effort that will enhance mobility throughout the San Fernando Valley with a new 6.7-mile light rail corridor along Van Nuys Boulevard. The project includes 11 new stations, a 26-acre maintenance and storage facility, utility relocations, and supporting infrastructure designed to improve regional connectivity and provide reliable transit access for residents, workers, students, and visitors.
Once complete, the new light rail line will connect communities including Panorama City, Arleta, and Pacoima to the broader Metro network, helping reduce roadway congestion, improve transportation options, and support sustainable growth throughout the region. The project is being delivered through a Progressive Design-Build approach, allowing designers, builders, Metro, and stakeholders to collaborate early to optimize project delivery while managing schedule, cost, and construction challenges.
The Solution
Kroner Environmental Services (KES) provides environmental compliance and construction support services for the San Fernando Transit Constructors throughout project implementation. Working within one of the busiest urban transportation corridors in Los Angeles, KES helps ensure environmental requirements are met while supporting safe and efficient construction operations.
KES provides services as the Environmental Compliance Manager, noise and vibration monitoring systems, water treatment systems, contaminated soils management, and other environmental support and services during design and construction as required. KES’s team of engineers, geologists, and environmental specialists prepares the identified plans and submittals and will perform the services necessary to ensure compliance with environmental commitments and permit requirements of the project.
Through proactive environmental planning, monitoring, and compliance management, KES supports the successful delivery of this transformative transit project while minimizing environmental impacts, protecting public resources, and helping maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The result is a cleaner, safer construction program that supports Metro’s vision for improved transportation and long-term community benefits throughout the East San Fernando Valley.
